Marmax Products becomes Green World Ambassador
Durham based Marmax Products are looking forward to a visit to the House of Commons, where they shall be made Green World Ambassadors for 2014, following their win of a Silver Green Apple Award for their supply of recycled plastic products to UK industry.
Marmax Products Ltd are the leading manufacturer of 100% UK recycled plastic, supplying outdoor furniture and buildings to a wealth of businesses, as well as raw materials to the construction and architectural industries.
The Green Apple Environment Award, presented to Marmax recently by Doreen Lawrence, mother of murdered trainee architect, Stephen, recognises best environmental practices within commerce and industry and rewards companies demonstrating strong sustainability policies within their day to day business practices.
Marmax's recent creation of an outdoor classroom for Welwyn St Mary's Primary School in Hertfordshire, from 100% recycled plastic, attracted attention from the Green Apple awards scheme, now in their eighteenth year and well established as one of the major environmental recognition schemes, both in the UK and internationally.
"Competition was particularly strong this year with entries from over 200 other organisations", said Jackie Robshaw, General Manager at Marmax and Tracey Scott, Sales and Marketing Manager, who shall both attend the event at The House of Commons in November.
Marmax have successfully demonstrated their commitment to the environment by producing sustainable products and raw materials.
Jackie said: "We are delighted to win the Green Apple Award. The outdoor classroom was the first in the UK to be made out of recycled plastic and has inspired other schools to follow suit. Recycled plastic is a durable and environmentally friendly alternative to wood and is a good way to demonstrate to children how recycling can minimise waste and our impact on the natural world."
Marmax's work shall additionally be highlighted when Jackie and Tracey collect the Green World Ambassador 2014 plaque, demonstrating environmental best practices to others and encouraging businesses with strong sustainability practices to follow suit.
The Green Apple Awards are run by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-political environment group and supported by the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Chartered Institution for Wastes Management and other independent bodies.
